Day care

Dog sitting and day care, in your own home

Some dogs cannot be left all day. A puppy still learning, an older dog who has become unsettled on its own, a dog recovering from surgery, or a dog who has never coped with an empty house.

I sit with them at home instead. Your dog stays where it lives, on its own furniture, with its own routine, and I am there for as long as you need.

What day care in your home means

There is no kennel, no day care centre, no van full of other dogs, and no drop-off. I come to your house and stay.

That matters most for the dogs who do worst in group settings — the nervous ones, the elderly ones, the ones who have just had an operation, and the ones who simply have not learned to be alone yet.

I do not board dogs at my house. I never have and I do not intend to start. Everything I do happens in the animal’s own home.

What I do while I am there

Company

The main thing. Most of the dogs I sit with need presence more than activity. Someone in the house, on the sofa, moving about.

Toilet breaks and garden time

As often as your dog needs, not on a schedule that suits me.

A walk if it is wanted

If your dog is up to a walk we go out. If they are recovering or elderly, we do not.

Feeding and medication

Their food, their times, their bowls. Tablets, drops or injections if needed — see medication visits for the surcharge.

Updates

Messages and photos through the day rather than one at the end.

Who books this

Owners of dogs who cannot be left

Separation anxiety is exhausting for the dog and expensive for the house. Company is the fix.

Dogs recovering from surgery

Post-operative dogs need watching, quiet, and someone to stop them doing something stupid to their stitches.

New puppies

Before they can hold on all day. Often alongside puppy visits as they get older.

Working from home days that fall through

Meetings that overrun, trips that appear at short notice. Text me and I will tell you if I have the day.

What people say

My dogs are very timid and dont tend to like anyone, but within 2 visits they have really opened up to Catie and it is a massive weight off my shoulders. So happy with the service she provides. Thank you x

I cannot recommend Caitie highly enough. She is absolutely fantastic with my little hyper Cavapoo. She is always on time to pick him and to bring him home. And more importantly he is shattered when he comes back so I know he has had a really good run round. He goes bananas when he see Caitie and off they go together. She is just lovely, approachable, caring, puts their needs above anything and always keeps me in the loop. She honestly has been a godsend to both of us!

Questions about dog sitting

Is this the same as boarding?

No, and it is the opposite way round: boarding means your dog goes to somebody else’s house. I come to yours. I do not offer boarding of any kind.

How long can you stay?

Any block between 9am and 7pm. Outside those hours costs 50% more. For a full night, see overnight house sitting.

Can you look after two dogs?

Yes, if they live together and are settled with each other. We go through it at the consultation.

What if my dog does not take to you?

That is what the free consultation is for. If your dog is not comfortable with me, I would rather we found out then.

Do you sit with cats and other animals too?

Day care is usually dogs. For cats, cat sitting visits are almost always the better fit, and for everything else there are small animal visits.

Which areas do you cover?

Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton and St Helens. Full list of postcodes.

I cover Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton and St Helens. Not the Wirral. Full list of postcodes.
