Why this is hard to find

A diabetic cat needs insulin roughly twelve hours apart, every day, without a gap. That single fact rules out a great many options.

Catteries can usually manage it but your cat has to go there. Neighbours often will not inject, and it is a lot to ask of someone. Plenty of pet sitters will do tablets but stop at needles.

I do it. I have been giving insulin to cats and dogs for years, and it is one of the things people find me for.

What I can give

  • Tablets and capsules, in food or directly, whichever works for your animal
  • Liquid medication, syringed or mixed
  • Eye and ear drops
  • Injections, including insulin, for cats and dogs
  • Topical treatments, spot-ons and creams

Anything that needs a vet does not get done at home. If your animal needs veterinary attention I contact you and take them to your vet.

How it works

At the consultation

We go through the whole routine — the drug, the dose, the timing, where it is kept, what to do if your animal spits a tablet out, and what a bad day looks like. I want your vet’s details and written permission to use them.

If it is insulin, I want to see how you do it. Every animal has a way it goes best.

On the day

The medication is given at the time it should be, not at the time that suits my round. Insulin visits get fixed slots and I build the rest of the day around them.

Afterwards

You get a message every visit confirming the dose was given and how your animal was. If anything looked different — appetite, thirst, energy, behaviour — you hear about it that day, not when you get back.

What people say

5 stars is not enough for how amazing Catie was with our dog Oscar. We needed support for Oscar with insulin injections twice daily while on holiday and Catie was able to support with this. Amazing communication prior to our holiday which also put my mind at ease while away. Thanks again Catie I will definitely be in touch again soon xx

I would highly recommend Catie to anyone. Lovely, friendly lady!! Looked after my cat, Louis, several times. He has diabetes and needs 2 insulin injections twice daily 12 hours apart. Catie is always there, right on time for Louis and we have never had any problems with him. So obviously you want someone you can trust with your beloved fur babies and I'd definitely say Catie is the one 😊

Questions about medication visits

Will you give insulin injections?

Yes, to cats and dogs. We run through your animal’s exact routine at the free consultation and I watch you do it first.

What if my cat will not take a tablet?

Tell me how you manage it and I do it the same way. If it becomes a real fight I stop, tell you, and we speak to your vet about an alternative. I will not force a cat into a state over a tablet.

Can you do exactly twelve hours apart?

Yes, and for insulin I plan the day round it rather than the other way round. Say so at the consultation and I will hold the slots.

What if the dose is missed or brought back up?

I contact you immediately and follow your vet’s instructions. I never guess at a second dose.

Do you charge £5 per animal or per visit?

Per visit. If two animals in the same house need medication in the same visit, it is one £5.

Which areas do you cover?

Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton and St Helens. Full list of postcodes.
